Nevada continues to have the highest unemployment rate in the country at 5.4%. That’s according to the latest job numbers from the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation.
The numbers also show a growing job market.
Nevada’s seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate changed little in the last year, staying well above the national average.
At the same time, Nevada continues to lead the country in job growth, adding roughly 7,000 jobs in October. It marks nine straight months Nevada has seen an increase in its labor force.
The same cannot be said around the country. The U.S. unemployment rate rose to an almost two-year high of 3.9% last month.
Overall unemployment rates in the state’s three largest metropolitan statistical areas — Carson City, Las Vegas-Paradise, and Reno-Sparks — have seen a steady drop since the pandemic.
Nye County has the state’s highest unemployment rate at 6.9%.
