Nevada Public Radio Celebrates Decade of Expansion
(October 2013)
If you moved to Southern Nevada anytime in the last 10 years you've always known News 88.9 KNPR and Classical 89.7 as two FM stations. October 31 st marks a decade since the launch of Classical 89.7 and KNPR becoming News 88.9. During that decade KNPR's State of Nevada has become appointment listening, Desert Companion has grown into an award-winning city regional magazine and Classical music lovers have an escape into the finest music. Nevada's first NPR affiliate has become increasingly important to a continually growing audience through its broadcast, digital and print media offerings.
In this video - Flo Rogers, Nevada Public Radio President and CEO, takes us through the timeline and shares the history of the two radio stations, the launch KNPR's State of Nevada and the growth of the bi-annual Cultural Guide into Desert Companion, a monthly city-regional publication.
