How would you describe yourself to voters?

After serving eight years in the United States Marine Corps I received an honorable discharge, then my wife and I moved to Northern Nevada, and this is our home for over 10 years. Currently, I serve as Chair of the City of Reno's Human Rights Commission, Gov Sisolak appointed me to serve on the Nevada State Rehabilitation Council, and I serve on the board of the non-profit Northern Nevada International Center. I have always advocated for policies that advance opportunities for working families in Nevada. I am thankful for the opportunities I have had to serve this community, State, and Country.

What do you see as the top issues in this campaign?

Prioritizing our students, teachers, and schools. Creating Good Paying jobs by keeping Nevada a leader in clean, renewable energy. Ensuring health care is affordable and accessible to all Nevadans. Helping Nevada families and businesses recover from the coronavirus pandemic.

In your opinion, how would you rate the state’s response to the pandemic? Why?

The pandemic put stress on every system in our State. We have an opportunity to improve systems and move our State forward. I support the efforts of Gov Sisolak and his administration and our Federal delegation's response, and if elected I look forward to continuing that work in the next legislative session.

Education and local government officials have long asked lawmakers to change the way the state assesses property taxes. That includes raising the current tax threshold. Should lawmakers consider raising those thresholds? If not, what is the best way for governments to raise money for local programs?

In the past there have been proposals before the Nevada Legislature to review how our State assesses property taxes. I recognize that property tax funds local governments which includes police, fire, and schools. If elected, I look forward to working with my colleagues to discuss funding sources for our schools and local governments.
