Prominent Las Vegas oncologist Nicholas Vogelzang dies at 72

Dr. Nicholas Vogelzang

Southern Nevada-based Comprehensive Cancer Centers said that renowned Las Vegas oncologist Dr. Nicholas Vogelzang has died. He was 72. 

The announcement noted some of Vogelzang’s groundbreaking achievements, including efforts to bring about a promising new therapy for advanced stage prostate cancer.

He was also known for his caring bedside manner.

Over the years, Vogelzang and his work has been written about in numerous publications, including The New York Times, USA Today, and the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

From 2004 to 2009, he was director of the Nevada Cancer Institute.

Vogelzang’s brother, Mark, is the CEO of Nevada Public Radio.
