The fight over the fate of Nevada’s wild horses and burros has long been contentious. Animal rights advocates typically square off against ranchers, with the Bureau of Land Management attempting to balance interests -- and essentially pleasing no one.
It now appears the issue is headed back to court. On Friday, a group of organizations filed a federal lawsuit in Reno to halt the BLM’s helicopter roundup operation in Central Nevada. The roundup has resulted in the deaths of at least 10 animals, according to advocates.
