Lombardo Says He's Considering 2022 Run For Nevada Governor

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo is considering running for governor in 2022 as incumbent Democrat Steve Sisolak seeks another term.

Lombardo told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that he hasn't made a decision about whether he will run but he would do so as a Republican. Lombardo says he's "kicking the tires" on a gubernatorial campaign.

He is in his second term as sheriff of the Las Vegas metropolitan area and other parts of southern Nevada. U.S. Rep. Mark Amodei, a Republican represents Reno and northern Nevada in Congress, has said he is considering a gubernatorial run next year.
