Advocates often say Las Vegas’ homelessness problem doesn’t get enough attention. But one aspect of it that does is the people who reside in the city’s storm drainage system.
For years, the down and out taken refuge in the valley’s flood channels, some of which are located right under the Strip.
And ever since Matt O’Brien first wrote about them for the former alt-weekly CityLife, the tunnel residents have inspired a lot of media attention — as well as two books by O’Brien himself.
The most recent book — Dark Days, Bright Nights (available here) — came out last week, and while it covers some of the underlying causes of homelessness, it also highlights how people escape it.
