Computer Access Mars Online Reopening For Las Vegas-Area Schools
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Connectivity was the word for Las Vegas-area schools as the new semester began with a computer access program snarling plans for online learning.
Clark County school administrators said Monday morning the platform Canvas was offering slow access due to high volume.
District Superintendent Jesus Jara had said connectivity would be a concern for the sprawling public school district with more than 300,000 students. Officials said more than 30,000 pupils reported needing computers and 20,000 said they didn't have internet access.
Getting laptops to children, connecting to the internet and familiarizing them with virtual classrooms has been the focus of a massive community campaign.
