Sen. Cortez Masto Withdraws Name From Biden VP Consideration

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Democratic Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto of Nevada says she's not interested in serving as running mate to presumptive presidential nominee Joe Biden.

Cortez Masto said Thursday that she supports the former vice president and will work tirelessly to get him elected but does not want to join his ticket.

Cortez Masto noted that Nevada's economy has been one of the hardest hit by the coronavirus and that she wants to help the state recover.

The 56-year-old Cortez Masto was one of the highest-profile Latinas believed to be on Biden's short list of potential running mates. Some activists had suggested she could have helped Biden win over Hispanics.
