Nevada City Council Rejects Offer To Take Over Land Parcel
RENO, Nev. — A Nevada city council has rejected a proposal that would have folded land in the Sierra foothills into the city's jurisdiction.
The Reno Gazette-Journal reported the Reno City Council unanimously rejected the proposal concerning more than 1.6 square miles of property.
The proposal was a request from landowner Evans Creek LLC of Roseville, Minn., which sought to shift its jurisdiction from Washoe County to Reno.
Council member Devon Reese expressed concerns about the financial burden of firefighting in the area, while council member Jenny Brekhus disagreed with the owner's assertion that development could reduce the region's housing crisis.
