Utah Shakespeare Festival Cancels 2020 Season

Organizers of the Utah Shakespeare Festival have canceled the 2020 season out of concerns over the coronavirus pandemic.

The decision comes three weeks after announcing optimistic plans for a shortened season starting in July.

Several options had been considered as to how they could produce the shows safely, including testing for performers, and social distancing measures for the audience.

But it was eventually determined there were too many obstacles to overcome and that canceling the season would be in everyone’s best interest.

Artistic director Brian Vaughn says he looks forward to safely gathering in 2021 for the Festival’s 60th anniversary season.
