The Nevada Highway Patrol started enforcing new rules this week for carpool lanes in Las Vegas.
Troopers began issuing tickets Thursday to drivers using high-occupancy lanes improperly. While the HOV lanes were previously monitored only during peak weekday traffic hours, the new laws will be enforced 24 hours a day.
Automobiles with two or more human occupants and motorcycles are allowed in high occupancy lanes, as well as law enforcement and emergency vehicles.
