2 Utah High Schools Feud Over Game Day Allegations
MIDVALE, Utah (AP) — Two Utah high schools are calling for disciplinary action against each other over allegations of racial slurs, threats and an attempted assault following boys basketball games.
Intermountain Christian School claims racial slurs were yelled at its head coach at a basketball game against Tabiona High School in mid-January.
The Duchesne School District claims an Intermountain parent nearly assaulted the Tabiona head coach and the Intermountain coach threatened a Tabiona player.
Lawyers for the two schools argued their cases Monday before a Utah High School Activities Association panel.
The Duchesne attorney says no one affiliated with Tabiona's administration or team was at fault.
The Intermountain attorney says Tabiona administrators did nothing to stop the racist taunts.
The association says a disciplinary action decision will likely be issued within 10 days.
