Tesla Considering Reno As Manufacturing Spot For New Model
Executives at Tesla still haven’t decided where they will manufacture the forthcoming Model Y.
Employees say executives are weighing their options between the Gigafactory in Reno or at its car plant in Fremont, California.
Tesla is in the midst of extreme cost-cutting measures and announced last week it would move all vehicle sales online and close most of its retail stores, letting go thousands of employees in the process.
The company is planning to formally unveil the Model Y SUV crossover vehicle for the first time next week at the company’s design center in Hawthorne, California.
