Recall Effort Launched For Las Vegas City Councilman Steve Seroka

Las Vegas City Councilman Steve Seroka is facing a recall effort.

Former Assemblywoman Victoria Seaman is one of the leaders of the effort, who has criticized Seroka over his opposition to develop the Badlands golf course.

Seaman was one of three people who signed the notice of intent to circulate a recall petition received by the City Clerk’s office yesterday.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports a construction union that supported Seroka as a candidate is now lending its influence to oust him. Tommy White, the secretary/treasurer of Local 872, said it was because they feel Seroka is going to restrict them from building and “go against the working-class people.”

To launch a recall election, organizers must now collect 1,850 signatures by March 11 from registered voters who cast a ballot in Ward 2 during the June 2017 general election.

How is Las Vegas' healthcare system really doing, and what does it mean for you and your family? Desert Companion's Health Issue takes a deep dive into these questions and explores how heart-centered business leaders prove that doing good benefits the bottom line.
