An attempt to expand rooftop solar systems to apartment dwellers was blocked Wednesday by the state’s Public Utilities Commission.
The Nevada Independent reports the PUC declined to take up a request for an advisory opinion that could open the door to allowing apartment renters and others who live in concentrated housing to participate in net metering programs.
The application was filed by Ovation MM, a property management company, who proposed creating a Tenant Solar initiative. Energy regulators declined, citing that without a clear directive from state lawmakers, they could be in violation of state law.
