WestCare May Have To Close 50-Bed Rehab Center

The rehabilitation center WestCare says it might have to close its 50-bed Community Triage Center on North Maryland Parkway due to a dispute over funding with state and local governments and southern Nevada hospitals.

WestCare says it has accumulated a $6-million debt over the last two years, as a result of a failure by Clark County and Las Vegas governments, southern Nevada hospitals, and the state’s Department of Health and Human Services to follow through on funding commitments.

Spokespeople for Governor Brian Sandoval and Clark County government say WestCare’s financial problems stem from poor record-keeping.

WestCare had previously closed its other triage centers, one in Las Vegas and one in Reno, in the past six months.
