Nellis Air Force Base Extends Red Flag For 3rd Week

Nellis Air Force base announced their Red Flag training exercise has been extended for a third week.

This is the first training of 2018, which seeks to simulate air combat to match the reality the pilots would likely face in war.

The Commander of the Nevada Test and Training Range at Nellis, Col. Chris Zuhlke, said that over the past six months the Air Force has been trying to redefine what Red Flag is.

The purpose of the exercise has changed over the years to meet the demands of the real world. Red Flag exercises take place several times a year over the 2.9-million-acre Nevada Test and Training Range.
