Clark County ranked in the Top 20 of U.S. counties for the highest number of sexually transmitted diseases.
Based on the most recent data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention published this week, more than 19,000 cases were reported last year in Nevada.
The three most common diseases include syphilis, gonorrhea, and chlamydia.
About 75 percent of the cases in Nevada were chlamydia, a disease that disproportionately affects young women.
Most of the reported chlamydia and gonorrhea cases in Clark County occurred for those aged 20-24, while syphilis occurred most commonly in the 25- to 29-year-olds.
