Controversial Former Sheriff Receives Award In Las Vegas

Former Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio made his first public appearance in Las Vegas this weekend, as he received a “Courage Under Fire Award” from a conservative activist group.

The Citizen Outreach Foundation presented Arpaio with the award Saturday night, just two weeks after Arpaio received the first presidential pardon from President Donald Trump.

Arpaio had been facing jail time for a contempt of court charge for failing to stop conducting illegal immigration patrols.

During the speech, Arpaio vowed to help Trump win his re-election campaign.

The original location of the award ceremony had to be moved, due to law enforcement predicting a possible clash with nearby Mexican Independence Day celebrations.
