Clark County Commissioners voted Tuesday on limiting marijuana advertisements and possession at McCarran International Airport.
They decided the advertising ban won’t extend to taxis or personal cars entering the airport.
Clark County Commissioners Marilyn Kirkpatrick and Larry Brown led efforts to ensure McCarran doesn’t come under federal scrutiny since airports are subject to federal regulations and marijuana is still classified as a Schedule 1 narcotic under federal jurisdiction.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports offenders of the law can be subject to both a misdemeanor criminal charge and civil fines. Aviation Department Director Rosemary Vassiliadis will be responsible for setting the fines.
The Nevada Gaming Commission also reaffirmed their commitment to keeping the substance out of the casinos.
