Governor Brian Sandoval signed three marijuana bills into law Monday.
The laws dictate that edible products will come in opaque, child-proof packaging, medical marijuana cards will now cost as low as $50 for Nevada patients, and there will be a 10 percent excise tax on sales of recreational marijuana.
The excise tax is estimated to generate around $70 million designated for Nevada’s rainy day fund. Sandoval did veto Assembly Bill 259, which would have allowed those convicted of past marijuana-related crimes of that which is now legal, to have that crime vacated from their criminal records.
