Recreational Marijuana Industry Still Hoping For Sales Kickoff In July

Despite a restraining order by a judge in Carson City, people in Nevada's burgeoning marijuana industry hope to begin recreational sales in July as previously planned, according to the Las Vegas Sun

Las Vegas attorney Bruce Gale says the legal matter that is holding up the sales currently is complicated. The restraining order was granted to the Independent Alcohol Distributors in a lawsuit the group brought against the Nevada Department of Taxation over differences in distribution rules the department created and wording of the ballot question that legalized the drug.

Gale believes a settlement between the two parties is needed for sales to go forward. State Senator Tick Segerblom, who has championed legalized marijuana in the state, told the paper he believes an agreement will be reached.
