Nevada Corrections Manager To Become Montana Prison Warden

The superintendent of a maximum security juvenile detention center in rural Nevada will serve as the new warden for the Montana State Prison.

Michael Fletcher will replace the current warden Leroy Kirkegard, who is retiring April 14. Kirkegard was in charge of the men's prison for five years.

Montana State Prison is the largest correctional facility in the state.

Previously Fletcher served as the superintendent of the Summit View Youth Facility in Las Vegas and reopened the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services in 2015 after it had been closed for three years.

Fletcher says he plans to keep the facility a safe workspace and an environment that encourages the inmates to better themselves.
