Amodei Still Voting For Trump After Lewd Comments Surface

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Republican U.S. Rep. Mark Amodei says he's still voting for Donald Trump, even after lewd comments from the presidential nominee to light.

Amodei said in a statement Monday the outrage over the vulgar "Access Hollywood" comments is appropriate and deserved. But Amodei says he won't tear apart the party apart over things Trump has done in the past.

A string of elected Republicans have abandoned Trump in light of the comments from a recorded 2005 conversation, including Nevada Republican Reps. Joe Heck and Cresent Hardy.

Amodei is a three-term congressman who represents a solidly Republican northern Nevada congressional district and chairs the Nevada Trump Campaign.

He's running for re-election against a first-time candidate from Reno trying to become the first Democrat ever to win a House seat there.
