Mayor Litman hails originally from Duluth, Minn., lived in Los Angeles for thirty years, Maui, Hi., for ten and has been a resident of Mesquite for the past twelve years. Mayor Litman entered the Army in 1965, and served in Vietnam from 1966-1967, where he received a Bronze Star for valor and an Air Medal for participating in numerous combat flights with the First Calvary (Airmobile) Division.
Mayor Litman taught public school for eighteen years as well as teaching in the Graduate School of Education and Psychology at Pepperdine University where he received his Master’s in Administration and Supervision and completed his Doctoral studies in Institutional Management. Mayor Litman left education in 1984 when he founded an automobile service company until 1994, when he retired to Hawaii. After a brief retirement, Mayor Litman opened a practice in both Child and Family Psychotherapy and Autism consulting. Mayor Litman retired again in 2004 and moved to Mesquite.
In 2011, then city councilman Litman was elected to fill a two -year term. In 2013 Councilman Litman was re-elected. On May 13, 2014, Councilman Litman was appointed Mayor.
Mayor Litman represents the City of Mesquite on the Regional Flood Control Commission, the Regional Transportation Commission, and the Civilian Military Council at Nellis Air Force Base. Mayor Litman previously served as a director for the Southern Nevada Health District.
