Biography provided by the candidate:
Who is Jonathan Friedrich
He moved to Las Vegas to enjoy retirement but instead encountered harassment and abuses. As a result of a Review Journal article about him and his issues with a law breaking homeowners association, he found he was not alone.
Others started calling him for guidance which he felt compelled to give. This then led to contacting Assemblyman Harvey Munford a long-time resident of Las Vegas. A friendship with Assemblyman Munford developed which resulted in them working together on new legislation over the next several sessions of the Legislature. Their efforts never stopped in trying to bring justice to people in this State.
Jonathan became a nonpaid Lobbyist which led him to run for the Legislature.
He cares about people who he sees being abused such as individuals being stripped of all their assets, including their homes in both the guardianship scams and over zealous HOA Boards.
It is his hope to become elected as the Senator from District 3 to correct these evils in order to protect the people of this state.
Question: Last legislative session, the major initiative was a tax increase to support education in the state. What should the major accomplishment of 2017 legislature be?
REPEAL of the Commerce & Margins Tax
Not approving a second vote for SJR 13 (residential real estate tax increase)
Revamping how the PUC operates.
Due Process legislation for homeowners living in HOAs
Creating a moratorium on building golf courses due to water shortage
Question: If recreational marijuana is legalized by voters in this state, do you want revenue from it to fund health initiatives, research and/or youth awareness campaigns?
I do not support recreational marijuana becoming legal. However if legalized I do not feel that much revenue will be generated as has been the case in Colorado. Any revenue generated should go into the State's General Fund
Question: Many elected officials in Clark County say they’d like to see the property tax cap changed – that its time because tax revenues aren’t meeting budgets. Is that an idea you want to see the legislature tackle?
Short answer is NO. SJR 13 deals with just that issue and needs not to pass a second time as required to become law.
Question: Do you support the construction of a taxpayer-funded NFL stadium?
Short answer is NO. Taxpayers must not be saddled with funding a stadium that will not directly produce income for them and only enrich the team owner and the NFL.
