Las Vegas police will pay $200,000 to settle a federal civil rights lawsuit filed by a Los Angeles woman who claimed permanent injury after a patrol officer allegedly slammed her to the ground during her arrest on littering and loitering charges.
Officials say the officer's body camera didn't tell the same story that he did about the January 2015 arrest.
That led to dismissal of the charges against Amanda Vizcarrondo-Ortiz and the firing of Officer Richard Thomas Scavone.
Scavone is now facing federal excessive-force and obstruction charges.
He pleaded not guilty Jan. 20 in the criminal case, and is free while awaiting trial Oct. 25.
Authorities haven't released the body camera footage. They call it evidence in the pending case.
Scavone's attorney, Joshua Tomsheck, didn't immediately answer requests for comment.
