Wind Advisory In Effect For Southern Nevada

A wind advisory warning of gusts as high as 50 mph has been issued for Southern Nevada to the California and Arizona borders through Saturday afternoon.

The National Weather Service said the winds will begin increasing this morning and peaking in the afternoon before gradually decreasing Saturday across the region, from the Las Vegas Valley north to Nye County.

Areas along the California and Arizona borders will also be affected, including Death Valley National Park and San Bernardino County, and the western Grand Canyon and Lake Havasu City.

Crosswinds can make travel difficult with blowing dust possible.

There may also be dangerous boating conditions on lakes, where boats may capsize in rough waters.

The warnings issued late Thursday night are in place through 5 p.m. Saturday.
