It’s been a tough week for polygamist church leaders.

On Monday, the U.S. Justice Department dealt a double blow to the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

In Phoenix, a federal jury found that church leaders controlled municipal governments in Hilldale, Utah, and Colorado City, Ariz., that discriminated against non-believers.

And in Salt Lake City, a federal magistrate ordered one of the top-ranking bishops, Lyle Jeffs, to remain behind bars as he awaits trial in an alleged food stamp money laundering scheme.

Salt Lake Tribune's Nate Carlisle joins KNPR to sort out some of the news and talk about what could be next for the secretive sect.
