Climber Killed At Zion Identified

Authorities have identified a climber who died last week in a climbing death at Zion National Park as a 36-year-old man from Portland.

Officials say Eric Michael Klimt has died after falling from a 1,200-foot sandstone wall in Zion National Park.

Park officials say two other climbers saw him fall at the Moonlight Buttress technical route in Zion Canyon on Wednesday afternoon.

Klimt was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are investigating what caused the fall.

Officials say he likely fell about 1,000 feet.

Park rangers say the climbers who witnessed the fall didn't know Klimt.
