LAS VEGAS (AP) — A political action committee is challenging a solar industry-supported ballot measure that would restore previous rates for solar customers.
Las Vegas Inc. reports that Citizens for Solar and Energy Fairness filed a lawsuit Tuesday, claiming that the proposed measure doesn't adequately inform voters of its effects.
The ballot measure brought last month is backed by SolarCity and rooftop solar installers. The referendum seeks to invalidate a Public Utilities Commission ruling that increased bills for solar customers and reduced the value of credits customers earn by generating excess electricity.
The PAC alleges that the referendum's organizers are trying to avoid getting legislative approval for the changes they're seeking.
A referendum organizer dismissed the claims as "legal technicalities," saying they are going about the process in a legal way.
