Nye County residents may have to wait just a little bit longer before the Nye Regional Medical Center reopens.
The Pahrump Valley Times reports the county commission has held off on entering an agreement for Renown Health to take over the operations of the hospital in Tonopah.
According to the commission, Renown has not been able to complete a final review of the contract governing the arrangement.
The Nevada Department of Taxation is looking into the arrangement between Nye County and Renown.
The state is unsure whether or not hospital district tax dollars can go to Renown because the facility will not be run as a "hospital" as defined by Nevada law.
Nevada law says hospitals have to provide lab services, along with pharmacies and dietary services, while the Nye Regional Medical Center will focus mainly on urgent care and primary care.
