Life is good on campus in Reno. So good in fact, the university is finally moving ahead with plans for a new fine arts building.
The project was delayed during the recession.
So, what will the University of Nevada Reno’s fine arts building offer? And, when do they expect it to be completed.
Larry Engstrom, interim dean of the College of Fine Arts, told KNPR’s State of Nevada the building will have an art museum, recital hall, and practice rooms.
Engstrom believes the new building will improve arts education at the university and build Reno into more of a college town.
"I do believe that it is an integral part of any education and it is also an integral part of community engagement," Engstrom said.
He said they had secured about $19 million of the $20 million needed to build the 35,000-square-foot building.
