Gov. Brian Sandoval announced the recommendation under the 15th round of the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act of 1998.

About 9,000 acres of the land are located in the sage grouse habitat. If acquired by the Bureau of Land Management, it would consolidate federal management for protection of sage grouse.
