A runway at Elko Regional Airport reopened to commercial aviation yesterday after more than a month of rehabilitation.
The Elko Daily Free Press reports runway 5-23, which is more than a mile long, was repaved and new lighting was installed.
A new path indicator to assist planes during takeoff and landing was also added.

The project cost $9.6 million, and was mostly funded by the Federal Aviation Administration.
The runway's reopening means that flights between Elko and Salt Lake City can resume, but not all of the work is done – airport officials say they'll work through next spring on further paving and grooving projects on the runway.
