Project Jackpot And A Las Vegas Strip Recovery

A parcel of land on the Strip where  Walgreens and Travelodge now stand could show just how strong our economy is.

Project Jackpot is the name Spectrum Group Management LLC has given its effort to sell an 18 acre parcel next to door to the MGM Grand.

The acreage currently is home to a Walgreens and a Travelodge Motel.

In 2007, it sold for $750 million. Now, it's likely worth a fraction of that amount. But gaming industry insiders are watching the sale, because it could provide an indication of just how much Las Vegas gaming has recovered since the financial several years ago.

We talk with Wall Street Journal gaming reporter Kate O'Keeffe about Project Jackpot, and other economic indicators of the industry's health.
