This March 20, 2013, file photo shows Culinary Union workers demonstrating along Las Vegas Boulevard, protesting against their contract negotiations with Deutsche Bank in Las Vegas. A majority of union members today now have ties to a government entity at the federal, state or local levels.

Unions in Nevada are criticizing a bill that would restrict picketing in the state.

Introduced by Michele Fiore, a Republican Assemblywoman from Las Vegas, the bill passed the Assembly and is now being considered in a Senate sub-committee.

The bill forbids picketing on private property without permission and sets penalties for, among other things, “disrupting a business.”

Unions in Nevada say the bill violates the Constitution and is overly broad
