Ringo Starr: Las Vegas Incredible Even 50 Years Ago

When you think about it, Las Vegas and yes, Ringo Starr, who you know as the drummer for The Beatles, almost grew up together.

In 1964, Las Vegas was home to about 100,000 people when Starr and The Beatles visited here on their first tour of America. They played at the old Las Vegas Convention Center and stayed in the former Sahara Hotel.

Starr returned in the early 1970s to play in Jerry Lewis’ annual Muscular Dystrophy telethon.

Then with the help of Cirque du Soleil, he and The Beatles music returned in 2006 as the focus of the show, “Love.”

With an unauthorized biography to be released on his 75 th birthday this summer, and an induction into the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame coming up in April, Starr’s star remains in the limelight.

And he and his All Starr Band are making another return to The Pearl Concert Theater at the Palms this month.
