19-Year-Old Pleads Not Guilty In Las Vegas Neighbor Slaying Case

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A 19-year-old Las Vegas man has pleaded not guilty to murder and other charges in the shooting death of a mother of four in a neighborhood gunbattle four weeks ago.

Erich Milton Nowsch Jr. spoke in court Thursday only to tell Clark County District Court Judge Michael Villani that he understood the charges in an indictment filed last week.

The charging document also accuses Nowsch of attempted murder and firing a weapon from a vehicle.

Police are still seeking a getaway driver in the Feb. 12 shooting death of 44-year-old Tammy Meyers.

The case initially was characterized as road rage but later was found to involve more complex neighborhood relationships.

Police now say Meyers and Nowsch knew each other, and Meyers' adult son fired several shots at Nowsch during the fatal shootout.
