The group hoping to bring NHL hockey to Las Vegas has collected over 5,000 deposits for season tickets.
Hockey Vision Las Vegas said today that one and a half days of sales had gotten them halfway to the 10,000 mark, with deposits ranging from $150 to $900 per ticket. The season ticket drive is intended to show the NHL that the area would support a hockey team.
That team would play in the MGM-AEG arena now being built on the strip. The drive began Tuesday afternoon with a rally at the MGM Grand. It was attended by NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman, who stressed he was there strictly to show his support for the effort and was not making any promises.
