Joe Lombardo Sworn In As Clark County Sheriff

Joe Lombardo was sworn in this morning as Clark County sheriff in a ceremony at Metro headquarters.

A 25-year veteran of Metro, Lombardo defeated retired Capt. Larry Burns in November in a tight race, winning election by just 2 percentage points. Lombardo, 52, replaces Doug Gillespie, who served two terms as sheriff and decided not to run for another.

Lombardo is the seventh sheriff since the creation of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department in 1973
