LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Las Vegas police detective stood shackled before a judge while prosecutors filed more charges alleging he attacked a woman to get his money back after paying her for sex.
Michael John Kitchen said nothing during his initial court appearance Tuesday in a criminal case that could get him dismissed from the police force and imprisoned for life.
His lawyer, Josh Tomsheck, declined immediate comment.
The judge set a Feb. 10 preliminary hearing on charges including battery, robbery and attempted sexual assault.
The new allegations are that he caused substantial bodily harm. The 35-year-old Kitchen is on unpaid leave and jailed without bail.
He was arrested Friday, after police say the woman reported he attacked her Thursday at her home.
Police say the woman was treated for injuries and released.
