The 2014 graduation rate for Clark County schools is 70.91 percent with three schools having a 100 percent graduation rate.
The rate which was announced by the Nevada Department of Education on Thursday shows and additional 410 Clark County students will graduate this year. Out of 57 high schools, 41 had graduation increases.
The rate saw a slight decrease from the 2013 rate of 71.5 percent.
Superintendent Pat Skorkowsky said he is proud the district sustained the huge gains it made in 2013 because the state calculated graduation rates differently in 2014.
“Last year, the Class of 2013's graduation rate increased by 9.9 percentage points – a huge jump for the Clark County School District,” Skorkowsky said. “We hoped to sustain that gain with the Class of 2014 even as we work with the state to better track and be held accountable for the success of our adult education students."
Numbers are expected to stay relatively high this year but then dip for the Class of 2015. That's because Nevada is implementing more rigorous Common Core standards and a different proficiency test system.
CCSD has set a goal of increasing the graduation rate to 82 percent for the Class of 2019.
