Tesla Motors is building its huge battery factory near Reno, but is also leaving its mark in other Northern Nevada towns.
In Elko, for instance, where a six-stall charging station is under construction in the Elko Junction Shopping Center. The Tesla charging station, which resembles a set of gas pumps, will be hooked up to a transformer powered by NV Energy.
The company’s website touts the stations, called “superchargers” as the fastest charging stations in the world. A full charge, taking about 30 minutes, will get their Model S 170 miles before another charge is needed.
