Opponents of a downtown Las Vegas soccer stadium hoping to put an advisory question before voters lost some ground yesterday.
They were told by the city clerk’s office that they will need to gather more than 8,258 signatures to put the issue on the June 2 municipal election ballot, not 2,306, as they were first told. A letter addressed to City Councilman Bob Beers, leader of the petition drive, suggests the outgoing City Clerk miscalculated by basing the figure on the wrong election.
The group has until January 24 to collect the signatures needed.
