Clark County Commission Rejects Pot Dispensaries Approved By State

The Clark County Commission today denied 58 applications to open medical marijuana dispensaries, including eight already approved by the state.

The commission chose 18 dispensary operators in June, the maximum allowed in unincorporated parts of the county under state law. But when the state conducted its own licensing process this fall, it agreed with only 10 of the county's picks.

Five of the eight rejected by the state are suing.  The 10 dispensaries that received both county and state approval are free to open. Another 22 are set to open in North Las Vegas, the City of Las Vegas, Henderson and Mesquite.
