Authorities closed part of the Las Vegas Strip to traffic after a deadly confrontation between a bus passenger and a security guard.
Police say the incident happened a little before 2 a.m. Monday on the 3600 block of South Las Vegas Boulevard, in the heart of the tourist district.
Investigators say a security officer contracted by the Regional Transportation Commission had a passenger get off the bus due to a disturbance.
Police say the man then pulled a handgun and shot the officer multiple times.
The officer shot back, fatally hitting the suspect.
The guard was taken to University Medical Center. An update on that person's condition was not immediately available.
