Officials say more than 40,000 Nevadans have selected insurance plans through the federal marketplace in time to receive coverage by Jan. 1.
The Department of Health and Human Services reported Tuesday that about 90 percent of Nevadans who chose a plan during the first month of the latest open enrollment period were eligible for tax credits that lower the cost of their premiums.
The number of people who chose plans is higher than the number who signed up through Nevada's troubled state-run exchange during the last open enrollment period. The state scrapped much of its system and now uses the federal HealthCare.gov site.
Because of the switch, all of the nearly 37,000 people who enrolled last time had to re-enroll to keep their subsidies flowing uninterrupted in the new year.
