More than 35,000 people will descend on the Las Vegas strip for the Las Vegas Rock 'n' Roll Marathon series Sunday, Nov. 16. Unlike typical Vegas marathons that include long hours without sleep, binge drinking and gambling, this race is for the finish line.
Runners will complete track distances of 26.2 miles, 13.1 miles, 6.5 miles and 3.1 miles in the heart of the Las Vegas strip and downtown.
If you're planning to cross Las Vegas Blvd. between Russell Road and downtown Las Vegas, plan extra time to go around to the north or the south. Sections of the Las Vegas Strip will be closed starting at 10 a.m. on Sunday. The strip will be largely shut down and closed to cross traffic between 2-10 p.m.
